Description

Warmer weather is here! After a year of social distancing due to the pandemic, we are cautiously getting out again and looking forward to outdoor recreation.

According to the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation, in 2017, more than 49 million people in the United States took to the nation’s waterways and enjoyed fishing from shorelines, boats and riverbanks. And, Statista reported there were about 12 million recreational boats registered in the United States in 2019.

To discuss how these popular activities can be enjoyed by all, tune-in to our next episode of ADA Live! when our guest David Jones, Founder and Director of the SportsAbility Alliance, will discuss accessibility in hunting, boating, and fishing.

Featured Organization

SportsAbility Alliance
SportsAbility Alliance, formerly The Florida Disabled Outdoors Association (FDOA) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that is working to enrich lives through accessible inclusive recreation. Since its inception in 1990, the SportsAbility Alliance has promoted accessible recreation to persons with disabilities as well as the general public through its hands-on recreation programs, newsletters and community outreach and education.
SportsAbility Alliance has also assisted in compliance of the Americans with Disabilities Act and worked closely with many state, local and private organizations to develop, enhance and/or support recreation opportunities for the people with disabilities across Florida and beyond. We could not do any of it without our team and our partners.
